How RRI handles public information.
These standards explain what belongs on RRILA.com, how information is reviewed, how people are protected, and what happens when a listing is disputed, corrected, stale, or closed.
About these standards
How RRI manages public information
Last website review: August 4, 2026.
When a narrower rule conflicts with a general one, RRI should choose the option that better protects safety, privacy, accuracy, source transparency, and the historical record.
Verification & provenance
Every public record should retain how it entered the system: submitted by an organization, submitted by a resident, entered by RRI, imported from an official calendar, or derived from a government notice. RRI should also retain the original source, person who reviewed it, verification method, edit history, and publication history.
Public labels
- Verified by RRI: RRI confirmed the core listing with the named organization or an authoritative source on the displayed date. Verification is not endorsement or a guarantee.
- RRI confirmed: The item describes RRI’s own status, event, project, or decision and is maintained by RRI.
- Details pending: The existence or date may be known, but important details are not yet confirmed. The missing details must be stated.
- Re-verification required: The source, status, deadline, or current stage needs a new authoritative check before reliance.
- Archived: The item is retained as history and must show the final outcome when known.
“Verified by RRI” never means RRI endorses an organization, fundraiser, service, candidate, event, or outcome. It means only that identified facts were checked in the stated way on the stated date.
Editorial workflow & service targets
- Information enters a review queue and receives a source and provenance record.
- An editor checks eligibility, responsible contact, public-contact consent, safety, geography, date, and source.
- A second reviewer is used for urgent claims, disputes, sensitive corrections, and material public-issue changes when practicable.
- Approved content is published with a verification state, expiration or review date, and named organizer or source.
- Expired content is archived—not silently deleted—and receives an outcome when known.
RRI’s volunteer service targets are: urgent needs within four hours when possible; event submissions within two business days; correction acknowledgements within two business days; organization profiles annually; and public-issue updates before each relevant hearing. These are targets, not guaranteed response times.
RRI assigns responsibility for editing, publishing, urgent verification, and corrections. Public leadership and accountability information appears on the governance page.
Community listing eligibility
Listings must provide a clear community benefit. Eligible material may include civic, charitable, educational, faith-community, youth, recreation, preparedness, public-service, rural-life, and verified assistance activities serving Bush, District 6, or a relevant nearby area.
Ordinary commercial promotion is not eligible unless tied to a clear, verified charitable, civic, educational, or public-service purpose. RRI may limit duplicate, repetitive, pay-to-attend, membership-only, sponsored, or out-of-area listings to keep the platform useful and fair.
Political and government-related listings
Government meetings, elected-official town halls, public hearings, and nonpartisan candidate forums may be listed when their public purpose, organizer, participation terms, and source are clear. Candidate rallies, campaign fundraising, party promotion, or electioneering are not ordinary community listings. RRI commentary and advocacy must be clearly identified as RRI’s position and separated from official source language.
Fundraisers & donation requests
Financial requests receive additional review. Before publication, RRI should confirm:
- the responsible organization or beneficiary;
- the stated destination and purpose of funds;
- the official payment or campaign URL;
- whether a contribution is represented as tax-deductible;
- whether RRI receives any portion of the funds;
- whether RRI is listing, partnering, or endorsing; and
- the expiration or next review date.
Raw payment handles, personal cash-transfer accounts, and unverifiable crowdfunding links are not published by default. Exceptions require documented verification and a safety review. No listing may imply that a contribution is tax-deductible unless the responsible organization supports that statement.
Privacy & safety
RRI collects only information reasonably needed to review, contact, publish, measure, secure, or maintain a submission. Submitter contact information is private by default. A public email, phone number, address, or contact name may be published only when the responsible person or organization has authorized that use.
RRI should avoid publishing information that reveals or implies:
- that an older or vulnerable person lives alone;
- a family’s private home address or when a home will be vacant;
- a child’s identity, private schedule, or transportation routine;
- medical, financial, immigration, or similarly sensitive circumstances;
- a protected shelter or domestic-violence location; or
- routes, routines, or identifying details that could put someone at risk.
Needs involving individuals should generally be published through a verified organization without naming the individual. RRI may redact or decline unsafe details even when a submitter requests publication.
Messages and submissions are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for review, response, audit, dispute handling, legal obligations, security, and continuity. Material changes to RRI’s retention or data-request practices will be published on this page.
Store orders and payment processing
Our first store items are sold by preorder. Please allow up to two weeks for preorder items to ship. We appreciate your patience as we get the new store underway.
RRI uses Square to host checkout and collect payment, contact, and shipping information. Those details are entered on Square's checkout page and are not stored in RRI's website database. When a paid preorder is ready to be made, RRI's backend retrieves the necessary shipping details from Square in memory and sends them directly to our production and shipping partner. RRI does not retain the buyer's name, email, phone number, street address, card information, or shipment tracking number in its own store records. Square and our production partner retain information under their respective policies as needed to process payment, make and ship the order, provide receipts and tracking, handle disputes or refunds, and meet legal obligations.
Emergency publishing
Only an RRI officer or emergency editor designated in writing by RRI’s officers may activate, materially change, or deactivate emergency mode. The publisher must record the source, verification method, time published, revision history, and expected next review.
Every emergency item must show:
- Source
- Verified at
- Next expected update
Official instructions and RRI summaries must remain visibly distinct. When the verification window passes, an item should be marked stale or removed from active priority until rechecked. Emergency pages should use minimal media and remain readable without images or live JavaScript.
RRILA.com is not an emergency dispatch service. RRI does not issue official evacuation orders, open shelters, declare roads safe, or guarantee that supplies and services remain available.
Corrections, appeals & disputes
Anyone may report a possible factual error. A named organization may also challenge rejection or removal of its listing, an RRI-added disclaimer, verification status, public contact information, or a correction decision.
- Send the specific page, disputed statement, preferred correction, and supporting source through the correction form.
- RRI reviews the request as volunteer capacity allows and may contact the requester for clarification.
- Before making a material edit, an editor records the disputed wording and reviews the cited source.
- If the dispute concerns the first editor’s decision, a second RRI officer should review it when practicable.
- Material changes to public issues should receive a visible correction or version note, not a silent overwrite.
RRI may decline a requested change when the available source does not support it. When practicable, RRI should explain the basis privately or publicly as appropriate.
Expiration, archives & version history
Expiration normally removes an item from current lists without erasing its historical record. Where known, archives should distinguish: event happened, cancelled, or postponed; need closed, fulfilled, or withdrawn; issue resolved, withdrawn, superseded, or resubmitted; and document current, superseded, or replaced.
Default review practices are:
- events leave upcoming lists after their end time;
- needs leave current lists after their deadline;
- urgent needs require re-verification at least every 72 hours;
- undated notices require review within 30 days;
- organization profiles require annual review; and
- public issues remain in the archive while losing “current” status when appropriate.
Zoning and government records must preserve stages rather than overwrite them. A request may move from rezoning to conditional use, revision, withdrawal, or resubmission. Each stage, source, date, and superseded document should remain understandable.
Distribution & measurement
Publication does not automatically mean distribution. Editors should choose among website only, scheduled digest, newsletter, immediate alert, and Facebook-ready copy. SMS should not launch until consent language, opt-out handling, vendor cost, security, and legal compliance are settled.
RRI should measure community outcomes—not page views alone—including attendance referrals, volunteer signups, needs fulfilled, participating organizations, calendar use, public comments generated, corrections, stale listings caught, subscriptions, and average review time.
Platform boundaries
RRILA.com is not:
- an emergency dispatch service;
- an official parish, state, school, fire, or law-enforcement website;
- a guarantee that every local event, organization, issue, or service is listed;
- a substitute for legal advice, government notice, official agendas, permits, or public records;
- a private social network;
- a provider or guarantor of every listed service; or
- a free advertising board.
Community listings are a public service and do not imply endorsement. The named organizer or responsible agency remains accountable for its event, need, service, fundraiser, instruction, or claim.
